selected Bloomington for a seminary. Monroe County Indiana was created by an Act of the Indiana General Assembly in 1818. Historical information is maintained at The Monroe County Historical Society Museum.
Bloomington Indiana is home to Indiana University (originally Indiana Seminary) which adds 35,000 students to the
community each September, and provides major college sports, entertainment and cultural activities to residents of Bloomington and Monroe County.
